AFTER THE RAIN:
A Smokies spring landscape on the way to Newfound Gap. After the rain, a welcome sun appeared to cast its yellow light on the mountains, and Mountain Laurel raised their grateful heads to the warmth. “After the rain, the dark clouds swept across the western mountains and were gone, leaving the gentle warmth of the sun to touch upon the tips of watery pines and dry the crystal drops hung suspended from each needle” (an excerpt from the poem “After the Rain” by Sharon Elaine Hurst).
