A floral watercolor of a Smokies springtime wildflower, Showy Orchis, blooming from April to May. The flowers are beautiful, hooded blooms of lavender and white. Cloaked in wide green leaves, Showy Orchis flowers are elegant ladies dressed in their springtime finery. They bloom along mountain trails at lower elevations, usually in a canopy of deep shade. This is the artist's favorite wildflower.
